On Friday, May 3rd, William “Bill” J. Williams, devoted father, husband and friend passed away at the age of 75.
Bill was born on February 17, 1944, in Tullahoma, TN, to Judson and Ethel Williams. He went to Belmont College in Nashville, TN, where he received a Bachelors’ In Business. After college he went to work for E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company—30 years of a successful and fulfilling career. On June 6, 1970, Bill married Helen Ann McPeters. They raised their daughter, Suzanne, and son, Taylor, in Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN, as well as Beaumont, TX. They also lived in Kingwood, TX, retiring in Coldspring.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman and had many hobbies. He loved golfing at Willow Creek Country Club, hunting deer and dove at his lease in Llano, TX and fishing on Lake Livingston. He was also an excellent cook. He loved hosting backyard get-togethers and crawfish boils at his lake-side home. His prized ribs and brisket were always a favorite at these gatherings. Bill was always the life of the party. He was usually the first to leave, but one would never know when, or how, he would make his grand re-entrance—and it was always grand. Always quick with a story, he would bring smiles and laughter to all present.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Judson, and his mother, Ethel. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and his daughter and son-in- law, Suzanne and John Troeger, his son Taylor Williams, his grandchildren, Martha Troeger and Conlin Williams, his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn & S.W. Stone, his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Randy Guess, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on May 9th at 2:00 pm at Coldspring United Methodist Church.
