Will Thomas Wegner

William "Will" Wegner, a skilled carpenter with a heart of gold, touched the lives of many during his 40 years of life. Born on December 2, 1982, in Dayton, he was the beloved son of William Lee Wegner and Vickie Beard Wegner. On July 17, 2023, Dayton lost a compassionate and talented soul when Will passed away in his hometown.

Will's life journey took him from Dayton to Zachary, Louisiana, where he attended school, and then back to his roots in Dayton, where he established his home and community. A master with wood and tools, Will's carpentry skills were a testament to his craftsmanship, and he took pride in using those skills to enhance the lives of his loved ones.

Beyond his craft, Will found solace in nature's embrace. He cherished his time fishing, immersing himself in the serenity of the outdoors. Yet, his true joy and purpose in life were found in being a devoted father to his sons, Landon and Everitt. His love for them knew no bounds, and his dedication to their happiness and well-being was unwavering.

On his journey through life, Will experienced both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his father, William Wegner, and his grandparents, Jack Beard and Bob and Evelyn Wegner. The memories of these loved ones will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.

Will's spirit lives on in the hearts of his surviving family members: his caring mother, Vickie Beard Wegner; his beloved sons, Landon and Everitt; his brothers, Joey Douglas and his wife, Cindy, Alan Douglas, Jeremy Wegner, and his wife Stephanie Wall; and his grandmother, Rickie Beard. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were blessed to have shared in his life.

A memorial service to celebrate Will's life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
