Wanda L. May Rogers, 71, of League City, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Houston Hospice in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Lake Houston United Methodist Church with burial following at Huffman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Wanda was born December 1, 1942 in Houston, to parents; I. T., Sr. and Vera M. Brummett May, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in League City for the past six years. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1960, attended Baylor, San Marcus, and Sam Houston State University. She was employed as an executive assistant at Universal Truck and Trailer Sales and was a member of the Lake Houston United Methodist Church. Among her interests were her grandchildren, reading, sewing, and needlepoint. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her father: I. T. May, Sr. and brother-in-law: Milfred Lewis. She is survived by her daughters: Amber Hicks and husband David of Manvel and Leigh Anne Rogers and fiancé Ronald Simmons, son: Edward Rogers and Luray Kidd of Houston, mother: Vera M. Brummett May of Humble, sisters: Linda Werchan and husband Ronnie of Chapel Hill and Mary Lee Lewis of Missouri City, brother: I. T. “Buddy†May, Jr. and wife Lisa of Huffman, grandchildren: Braydon Hicks, Lauren Hicks, Olivia Hicks, Ashlyn Salinas, and Anthony Ayala, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
