Virginia Henderson, age 80, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, Montgomery County, Texas. She was born September 29, 1933, in Wright City, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, to parents, Edgar and Luceal Avery McGough, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Red†Henderson; son, Mike Henderson; sisters, Marie McGough and Judy McGough; and brother, Leon McGough. Mrs. Henderson never met a stranger. Her personality drew all who came across her path. Virginia had a lifelong love of learning. She attended business school and nursing school and worked as a licensed vocational nurse, at Leggett Memorial Hospital in Cleveland, Texas, early in her career. Virginia also worked as a hairdresser and was an accomplished artist. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. Mrs. Henderson was a multifaceted lady who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her son, Greg Henderson and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Lauren Henderson Prestridge and husband, Will; Lyndsay Henderson Burroughs and husband, Jared; Jason Henderson and wife, Shaily; Shayn Michael Henderson; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Prestridge, Lily Marie Prestridge, Rylan and Lakyn Henderson; daughter-in-law, Laneye Henderson Beasley, widow of Mike; extended family, Tracy Galloway and Mary Murray; numerous other cherished family members and friends. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Cleveland Memorial Cemetery with Rev. George Hayden presiding.
