Verlin Elmer David Mullenax, 99, of Dayton died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Dayton.
Visitation for Mr. Mullenax will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 at Pace-Stancil in Dayton. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Mullenax was born August 31, 1917 in Spence, Colorado to parents, Elmer David Mullenax and Jessie Etta Francis Fields Mullenax. He proudly volunteered for the Army in 1941 and served until 1945 when he was honorably discharged, receiving numerous citations. He worked for the Cottonbelt RR and retired in 1982 as an engineer. David was previously of Texarkana and had lived in Dayton for a little over one year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 73 years, Rosemary Mullenax; one great-granddaughter, Mya Kirchhoff, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by sons, Marcus Mullenax and wife Debra and William Mullenax; daughter, Toni Davis; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Tony Spencer and Mary Mullenax; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
