Velma Lea Childress Stanley-Frye, 80, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Houston. Services for Mrs. Stanley-Frye will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Velma was born November 8, 1935 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to parents, Robert Dean Childress and Rosie Lea Gravitt Childress. She was a previous resident of Channelview area and a graduate of Galena Park High School. Velma had lived in the Dayton area since 1990 and was a long time Brookshire Bros employee where she was well known as the Pin Lady. Velma enjoyed dancing, traveling and crocheting. She loved being with her family and grandchildren. Also she had a special affection for her dogs. Mrs. Stanley-Frye was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Stanley and the father of her children Harry LeLeux. She is survived by her husband, Jack Frye of Dayton; her daughters, Shelia Joplin-Huck and husband Edward of Houston and Suzanna Minx and husband Johnny of Dayton; her son, David Leleux and wife Sherry of Springtown; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Childress and wife Marvis of Midland; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
