Travis Eugene Risner was born October 5, 1969 in Freeport, Texas to Alvin Eugene Risner and Carolin Spears Risner. He passed away June 28, 2024 in Shepherd, Texas at the age of 54. Travis graduated from Coldspring High School in 1989. He then went to Sam Houston State University where he received his degree in Agriculture. Travis was proud of his family heritage and enjoyed growing up on a farm and raising cattle. He loved old country music and watching educational shows. Travis was a lifelong resident of the Evergreen community and one of his favorite sayings was “Everybody needs a good education.”
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Audrey Risner, Dorothy and R.G. Spears; uncles, George Spears and Larry Spears. Travis is survived by his mother, Carolin Scribner and husband Greg; father, A.E. “Gene” Risner; brother, Ronald Risner and wife Frances; sisters, Lacie LaMonica and husband Jake, Cheryl Scribner, and Carol Scribner; uncle, Leslie Spears and wife Kathy; aunt, Marylin Morris and husband Gary; numerous other aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel at 10am with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be, Ronald Risner, Robert Morgan, Frank Countryman, Larry Morris, David Hooker, and Justin Barton. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Marguerite Morrison, Alton Risner, Eric Canfield, Kyle Shoemaker, and Cody Morris.
