Threda Earl Norris Tuma, 107, of Liberty, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Norris Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Threda was born January 19, 1908 in Hope, Arkansas, to parents; James B. and Nicey Duke Norris, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Liberty for the past 27 years. She was a retired sales clerk for McCory’s Department Store in Houston. Her previous employments included and airplane mechanic, restaurant cook, and making furniture by hand. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, and cross word puzzles. Mrs. Tuma was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Milas Ray Riggs, daughter: Threda Louise Brickey, son: Reginald R. Riggs, siblings: Thresa Norris, Elmo Norris, and Ruby Norris, and great-grandson: Ernest J. Jones. She is survived by her son: Richard R. Riggs and wife Edwina of Tyler, 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 28 great great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
