Thomas Louis Mitchell Sr. July 21, 1921 - March 23, 2012 Tom was born in Alice, Texas to Nola Louise Sellers and Andrew Clifton Mitchell. He is survived by his caring wife Patricia Mitchell currently of Dallas, three loving children, Ellen Lue-Tan and husband Ron of Waller, Tom Mitchell, Jr. and wife Bernadette of Austin, Clif Mitchell and wife Tammy Shaklee of Austin, and two stepchildren, Kimberly Ann Rymer of Dallas, and Kendal Woodham of Wolfe City, Texas. Tom is survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and cousin John Wright of Corpus Christi, whom he considers a brother, along with his wife Anna Laura. Tom made Texas his home his entire life and most loved coastal golfing and living in Corpus Christi, Texas. Tom began military service in the Navy in 1944, serving as a quartermaster, then serving Mr. H.E. Butts in San Antonio as a bookkeeper, where he investigated and reported unethical business practices defrauding the company. He was most known as a bank executive and after a long career in banking, as an insurance agent, with business in Midland, Austin, and then Corpus. He proudly professed his Episcopalian faith of 78 years. As a member of Pharaoh’s Country Club, Tom was a lifelong golfer. He was fortunate to have been widely traveled, owning a vast swizzle stick collection from all over the world, representing golf courses, country clubs, resorts, and international airlines. Tom’s family extends the greatest appreciation to the care, service, and professionalism exemplified every day by the staff, medical professionals, and services at The Conservatory, Onion Creek Senior Care, and finally Heart to Heart Hospice. In the absence of his ailing spouse, thank you for gently caring for Tom, and keeping him content until he entered the gates of Heaven.
