Tessie Rice

Tessie Rice, age 90, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010. She was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on September 4, 1919 to Harvey and Ethel Johnson who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, J.K. “Kerm” Rice; sister, Lou Ceil Brown; and brother, Harvey Johnson. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Ceil Burt and husband, John; son, Bobby Rice and wife, Velda; grandchildren, Teri Mosley and husband, Brent, Robert Rice4, Jaack Burt and wife, Kim; great-grandchildren, Kassie Rice, Morgan, Rice, Ashley Burt, Emily Burt, Haley Burt, Luke Mosley, Jacob Mosley; great-great-grandchild, Douglas Mosley; very special “Friday Night” Ladies, Dottie Wood, Charlotte Murphy, Shirley Pace, and Marylin Wheat. Mrs. Rice had numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Liz Wakefield for all the loving care provided in the last few months; Linda K. Brown, Betty Campbell, Kim Hunter, and Freda Carroll. Also included is Shirley Sumner and Compassionate Care Hospice. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Dr. Byron Reeves and Bro. Thomas Mizell will preside over funeral services held Friday, July 23, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Rural Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will immediately follow at Ryan Cemetery. Pallbearers include John V. Ponton, Robert Ellisor, Mike Ponton, Charlie Rice, Frankie Barnett, Ray Burt, Robert Adams, Fred Rice; honorary pallbearers, Jackie Keith, Bill Rice, Bill Brewer, John Pace, and Jack Telford.
