Sylvia Carolyn Ferrell

Sylvia Carolyn (Smith) Ferrell went to her heavenly home November 16, 2017, surrounded by several loved ones. The Lord took her home from her suffering of her almost 3 year battle with cancer.

She was born October 18, 1938 to Woodrow Hezekiah Smith and Naomi Sylvia (Stanford) Smith in their home in Genoa, Arkansas where she grew up with her two sisters, Jean and Glenda.

She was devoted to her churches through life and a wonderful wife, friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (Grammie) to her grands! She accepted Jesus Christ as a preteen at a revival. She loved traveling in their RV. Also her favorite hobbies were sewing, quilting and crocheting. She made many quilts, over 60 throughout her life. She made them for all her family and gave away many to friends. She also was a lifetime member of the Livingston Piecemakers Quilt Guild.

In retirement she and Sidney moved to Shepherd, Texas and became active members of First Baptist Church in Shepherd for 23 years. They have developed a loving family through Christ Jesus.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney Charles Ferrell; two sisters, Jean Brooksher of Houston, Texas and Glenda Roberts of Splendora, Texas; two sons, Stephen Craig Ferrell and Carl Dwayne Ferrell; daughter, Diana Christine Schumacher; four grandsons and one great-granddaughter, plus her lifelong friend, Lou (Robbins) Couch whom she grew up with in Arkansas.

She will be sorely missed by all those who loved her but we rejoice that we will see her again when we go home!

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Shepherd, Texas. Interment will follow at Farley Chapel Cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.
