Stephen Lee Chason, 60, of Dayton peacefully passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at home in Dayton. Stephen was born August 16, 1958 in Nashville, TN to Rev. Robert L. and Mozelle Chason. He was the firstborn of three.
Service for Stephen will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael McIlwain officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil.
Stephen worked for 30 years at Plymouth Tube Company of West Monroe, LA where he started as a machine operator then moved up to supervisor. He got into the field of Safety where he enjoyed the last several years of his career there with Boomerang Tube and then Fluor Daniel.
He was usually up to no good as he loved to pull fun pranks on all unsuspecting personnel there. Steve was good natured and kind hearted, but you had to keep your eye on him because you never knew who was next. He was a good guy and friend to those that needed a friend.
Steve loved to hunt deer and dove, and he loved to fish. His favorite fish to catch was crappie and he enjoyed many hours on the water with friends or by himself trying to catch them.
Steve was a deeply devoted family man whose greatest pleasures were being a husband, Dad, brother and friend.
The things that gave him the most pleasure was seeing someone give their heart to the Lord, seeing loved ones smile, being happy and spending time with friends.
He is gone to Heaven now and would love to see you there too.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert L. and Mozelle Partridge Chason. He is survived by his wife, Judith Steed Chason; his daughter – Kimberly C. Paxton and husband Charles; his step-daugthers, Allison Leather, Angela Leather and husband Yodani; brother, Dan Chason and wife Michele; sister, Susan Taylor & husband Bo; also nieces, nephews, other relatives, coworkers and a host of friends.
