Shirley Anna Suneson, age 93 passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was born May 9, 1922 in Princeton, Maine. Shirley married Victor in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1950. They moved to Texas later and eventually settled in Conroe, where they started their family. The Suneson’s moved to Cleveland in 1963 where Shirley taught second grade for 25 years at Southside Elementary. Shirley was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a WMU member and worked in the church library. For several years Shirley played the piano at the nursing home. You could often find her curled up with a book, sewing, knitting, cooking, camping, spending time in the yard or playing Match with the grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Villa Carle; husband, Victor C. Suneson; daughter, Judy Suneson and sister, Hilda Tufankjian.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Goodwin and husband Allen, Linda Moore and husband Russell; brothers, Parks and Orcutt Carle; grandchildren, Lesli Pearson, Haley Overstreet, Lindsay Mitchell, Emily Parchman, Sarah Moore and Meredith Monroe; great-grandchildren, Parker, Camden, Madelyn, Mallory, Clark, Mollie, Jolee, Tripp and Liam along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with services starting
at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at Conroe Memorial Park,
Conroe, Texas.
