Sandra Faye Fleming Thomas October 19, 1944 – March 31, 2025

Sandra Faye Fleming Thomas, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Sandra was born on October 19, 1944, in Marietta, Mississippi to James Fleming and Jewel Vicks. Her early years were shaped by hard work and resilience, as she and her siblings spent the first few months of each school year helping with the cotton harvest. This instilled in her a lifelong strength and sense of determination.

She lived in Dayton, Texas for over 20 years, where she was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. In recent years, she made Amarillo her home, spending the last three years surrounded by family.

Sandra had a passion for gardening and took great pride in cultivating both flowers and vegetables, especially her beloved rose garden. She found peace and joy outdoors, whether tending to her yard or enjoying a quiet day of fishing.

She was known for her candid nature and quick wit—never afraid to speak her mind, often lovingly described as "ornery" by her family. Her strong spirit and honesty left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jewel, and many of her siblings.

She is survived by her loving family: her son Rodney Seth Sheets and his wife Anette; her daughters Rachel Beth Garrett and husband Justin, and Olivia Faye Mattson; her sister Peggy Jo Blair; grandchildren Christine Sheets, Kedzie Sheets, Christopher Lee Corn, Joshua Mattson, Maygan Mattson, and Lillie Jewel Miller; and great-grandchildren Austin Hunter Pizzoferrato, Bailee Faye Corn, and Christopher Lee Corn, Jr.

Sandra’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her strength, humor, and love of nature will continue to inspire generations to come.

A visitation will be held For Sandra from 5:00-6:00, Friday, April 11 with a graveside service at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
