Born in Pasadena, Texas on September 15th, 1962 and raised in Cleveland, Rusty Tejcek was a Texas grown country boy through and through. He was an honorable, trustworthy, and generous man and loved by all who met him. Raised on a farm, Rusty found taking care of the land and the animals to become a favorite pastime. He took pride in all of his responsibilities, but most of all, found fun in everything he did. Rusty met the love of his life, Lisa Lee, in high school and they went on to marry and have two children. They raised their family in Montgomery, where they owned the only grocery store in town, Mariel’s SuperMarket. Rusty also had another successful business, D&R Construction, that he owned with his son. Rusty’s favorite things to do were hunting with his friends and family, fishing with his grandkids, being a fun grandpa, playing dominoes, visiting his extended family, and barbecuing usually with his cook-off team, The Gamblers. He was a good father, grandfather, husband, and friend and always did the right thing by people and in life. Rusty was a very generous and loving family man that worked incredibly hard and made his children a priority. He was diagnosed with Stage IV Bladder Cancer on May 4th, 2017. In typical Rusty fashion, he battled with the strength of ten men. His fight for survival was strong and he had many successes. He took control of his battle and never complained. Instead, he held his family close and lived out his bucket list with them in tow. He was independent, healthy, and strong even after going into hospice. Rusty left this world in the comfort of his home in The Woodlands, TX on May 12th, 2019 surrounded by his family after stating that it was time for him to “Get’er done, and head home”.
