Ruby Katherine “Kitty” Hawkes, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was born February 7, 1930 in Lake Placedo, Texas to parents, Eugene and Lilly Cleveland.
Services for Mrs. Hawkes will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 8:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Pace-Stancil. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery.
Katherine was a loving wife and mother. She was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness in 1967 and loved working in the ministry. She took pride in becoming a Pioneer. She loved being a grandmother to all of her many grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, no one made rolls like Kitty and none of her kids can make them like she did. Kitty loved her flowers, gardening, canning and sewing. Her yard sales were special to her because she got to meet so many new people. She loved all animals. She liked to go fishing when Don would take her, she out fished him, so he didn’t take her much. She was also proud to be Aunt Kitty or Kitty Kat by her many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
The biggest thing about Katherine was she had a heart of gold when it came to anyone. She was an all-around care taker to everyone. She will be greatly missed.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Laura A Putzke, brother Arthur Cleveland, sister Margaret McDonald, and great grandchild Jared Hulsey.
