Ruby F. Henderson Roark, 90, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Country Manor Assisted Living Center in Dayton.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Gum Grove Baptist Church in Dayton. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Ruby was born February 4, 1926 in Humble, to parents; Rufus F. Henderson and Blanche Hensley, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton since 1954. She was a graduate of Aldine High School, attended Lee College, was a retired LVN, and a member and piano player for Gum Grove Baptist Church. She had also owned and operated her own beauty shop and nursery. Ruby enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and making jewelry.
Mrs. Roark was preceded in death by her father: Rufus F. Henderson, mother: Blanche Hensley Whyte, husband of 60 years: James J. “Chuck” Roark, Sr., son: James J. “Jimmy” Roark, Jr., brothers: Joe and Bud Henderson, and sisters: Gracie Phelps and Jewel Brent. She is survived by her daughters: Judy Swan of Dayton and Elizabeth Clarkson and husband Kenneth of Spring, grandchildren: Karen, Elizabeth, Allison, Chris, Kelly, James, and Evelyn, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to thank the Professional Healthcare Foundation staff: Chiva Cleaver, Dr. Teresa Falcon, Kristy Davie, Neva Hollyfield, Jennifer Smith, and Ruth Benton, the staff of Country Manor Assisted Living: Becky and Jeremy Johnson; for their special care given to Mrs. Roark.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Professional Healthcare Foundation at 2533 Calder St., Beaumont, Texas 77702, in Ruby’s name.
