Ruby “Granny” Lillian Yarbrough Shipman, 87, of Dayton died Thursday, May 27, 2010 in Baytown, Texas. She was born August 9, 1922 in Kossuth, Mississippi to parents: James Robert and Letha Aldrich Yarbrough. Granny was a lifelong resident of Dayton where she was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She loved taking care of people and had a very large extended family who will always remember the wonderful things she did for them. Granny loved her family and playing with the grandchildren. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, reading, cooking, sewing, doing puzzles and going to garage sales. She will always be in the hearts of many. Services for Mrs. Shipman will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery. Pallbearers are Patrick Hardin, Brian Douzat, Daner Banning, Robert Welch, Billy Humphrey, and Derrick Shipman. Honorary Pallbearers are Joseph Banning, Johnny Shipman, Jr., Corey Shipman, J.E. Douzat, Junior Banik, Larry Humphrey, Fred Ramsey, Rick Hutsen, Cody Douzat, James Banik, Jeff Lan, Kevin Eddlemon, Klint Eddlemon, Bobby John Banning, Adam Garner, Levi Garner, Jacob Garner, C.J. Gunter, Scooter Crews, Blake Douzat, and Deven Ohijai. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the funeral home She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years: J.E. Shipman, sons: Johnny Ray Shipman, James E. Shipman, Larry E. Shipman; grandchildren: Tanya Lynn Croft, Brenda Carol Croft, Jody Gayle Banning, and Jay Banning; and son-in-law: Carl Totzer. She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Lee Banning of Dayton, Bobbie Sue Banik & husband Melvin of Flynn, and Patricia Lynn Totzer of Dayton; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 18 great great-grandchidren; and four in the oven; brothers: Wayne Yarbrough and wife Lottie of Lake Jackson; Zane Yarbrough and wife Nell of Hitchcock; sister: Tina Yarbrough of Hitchcock; sister-in-laws: Rosa Lee Falk & husband Sonny of Dayton and Ann Shipman of Dayton; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
