Roy Glenn Baucum, 79, of Liberty, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 in Palestine, Texas. He was born February 11, 1940 in Liberty, Texas to his late parents, Clinton Baucum and Viola Walters Baucum.
Roy had lived in Liberty from the time he was born, until 3 years ago, when he moved to Palestine. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and cook. He hunted his entire life for food not for sport and was considered a social butterfly because he loved to visit and cook for everyone.
Mr. Baucum was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Brook Nugent; brothers, Arnold Lee Baucum and Clebern Earl Baucum and a sister, Janell McCann.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Melanie and Melvin Nethercutt, Mittie and Darren Farley, Howard Baucum, Troy Baucum, Dan and Kelli Baucum, Tammy and Jeff Dobson, Regina and James Earl Crouthers, Lana Webb and Bradley Woodruff, and Julie Peak; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Violet Lawrence, Joyce Clark, Vorice and Wanda Baucum, Sharon Taylor and Frank and Brenda Baucum; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews, more relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ashley Basham, Ismael Basham, Justin Nugent, Jacob Nugent, Seth Gartner and Logan Gartner.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 in the pavilion at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin with Pastor Jack Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow inside the Hardin Chapel Cemetery.
