Rose Carlene Allen Platt, 84 November 11, 1940 – March 1, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Carlene Allen Platt, who peacefully left us on March 1, 2025, in Dayton, Texas, at the age of 84. She was born on November 11, 1940, in LaPorte, Texas, to Thomas Joseph Allen and Ruby Carlene Pogue. Rose was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who touched the hearts of everyone she knew.
Rose spent much of her life in the Liberty/Moss Bluff area before relocating to Dayton in 2008. A proud graduate of McCallum High School, she went on to have a fulfilling career as an apartment manager. She was known for her warm heart, her love of family, and her contagious spirit. Whether tending to her rose garden, enjoying her favorite games on her tablet, or cheering on the Astros, Texans, and Nascar, Rose found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A lover of yellow, she brightened every room she entered.
Family was the center of Rose’s world. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her love for her children, DeWayne Platt and Thomas Platt, was evident in every moment spent together. Rose also had a special bond with her sister, Ruby Talley, and shared many fond memories with her brothers, Thomas and Richard Allen, and her late sister, Dorothy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Horace Kemper Platt, as well as her parents, Thomas and Ruby Allen, and siblings Thomas Allen, Richard Allen, and Dorothy Smith.
Rose’s warmth and generosity will be forever remembered by her sons, DeWayne (Melissa) and Thomas (Charlotte) Platt; her grandchildren, Christopher Platt, Brittany (Kevin) Barton, Rachel Platt, Paige (Andrew) Price, and Paiten (Aaron) Brown; her great-grandchildren, Aria Platt, Elana Platt, Kase Barton, Lillie Barton, Noah Price, and Abigail Price; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A visitation will be held for Rose on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty, Texas.
Rose's kindness, laughter, and love will be missed by all who knew her. May her memory continue to bring light into the lives of those who loved her.
