Ronald (Rusty) Sharp, age 61 of Cleveland, Texas was rescued from this earth to live eternally in Heaven on Saturday, November 9, 2019 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Rusty graduated from New Caney High School in 1977. His activities included being Captain of the Basketball team, First Chair Baritone in the Band, Battalion Leader in the JROTC, Chess club and FFA. He then went on to graduate from Jacksonville Baptist College where he received his Associate of Arts and Associate of Science. In 1983 he received his BBA, Finance from University of Texas at Tyler. He then graduated from Bank Operations Institute East Texas State University Commerce Texas in 1991 with honors. In 1994 he graduated from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking Southern Methodist University. He later went on to graduate from Graduate School of Banking Investments and Financial Management University of South Carolina in 2007. He also graduated from Lincoln Graduate School of Real Estate Appraisal.
He was born November 3, 1958 in Jacksonville, Texas to parents LaVerne Evans and Melton (Skeeter) Sharp who preceded him in death along with his grandparents, Hatley and Grace Evans, Henry and Sonora Kennard Sharp.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Corbell Sharp; daughters, Grace Ann Sharp, Rachel Sharp Smith and husband Nick; son, Alexander Sharp; brothers, William Sharp of Cleveland, Texas, Richard Sharp and wife Melody of Jacksonville, Texas, Bryan Sharp and wife Linda of Jacksonville, Texas; granddaughter, Khloee Smith; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Rusty was very active in the communities where he lived and worked. He served as President of the Lake Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, served on the board of directors and as Chairman Elect of The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce. He was an ordained Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and director at his church. He loved farming and ranching. Some of his favorite hobbies included mowing the pasture on his tractor, raising registered Bradford cattle and exploring the outdoors on his 4-wheeler. He loved to attend all his children’s activities which included football, art contest, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, track, power lifting and all UIL academic contests. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Services will follow starting at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Rude Cemetery, Jacksonville, Texas. Rude Cemetery is located in the Craft community. To get there you take HWY 69 turn left on 1629 go past Craft Baptist Church. Turn left again onto 1616 and go ½ mile. Cemetery is on the left.
