Roger Dean Capers

Roger Dean Capers, age 59 of Humble, Texas passed away February 14, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Harris County on September 17, 1962, to parents C.D. “Pete” Capers and Dorothy Ann Tidwell Capers. Roger graduated from MacArthur High School in 1981. He enjoyed coming to San Jacinto County for summer and weekend visits with his grandparents as a child. He loved his family dearly.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, C.D. “Pete” Capers; sister, Debra Jean Capers Leasman; uncle, Alfred Lee Tidwell; and grandparents, Julius and Ellen Capers, Ora Lewis Tidwell Hargrove and Speedy Hargrove.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Payne Bess “Capers”; stepsons, Robert Payne and wife Lindsey, Michael Payne and wife Misty; mother, Dorothy Ann Tidwell Capers; sister, Phyllis Capers Davis and husband Robert; grandchildren, Jacob Gardner and wife Annah, Rebekah Alcala and husband Alec, Dillon Payne and Travis Payne; great-granddaughter, Alina Alcala; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022, at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
