Roger Allen Casida

June 18, 1941 — May 15, 2020

Roger Allen Casida, 78, of Conroe, Texas passed away on May 15, 2020. He was born on June 18, 1941 in Osawatomie, Kansas to parents Warren and Bessie Casida who preceded him in death along with his loving wife, Katherine Delores Casida; brothers, Vernon Casida, Ralph Casida, John Casida, Louis Casida, Richard Casida, Raymond Casida; sisters, Frances Gates and Linda Ashley.

He is survived by his son, Rodney Casida and his wife Penny; daughter, Gail Franklin and her husband Edward; brother; David Casida; sister; Beverly Holsinger; grandchildren; Joshua Franklin, Alexis Casida and Alyssa Casida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Roger was an athletic teenager playing full back on the football team and also playing basketball at Osawatomie High School. In 1955 his father, who worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, was transferred to Houston, Texas. The Casida family started attending Shady Oaks Assembly, where he became an active member of the church. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Delores. Together they would teach Sunday School, lead the bus ministry and Christ Ambassadors. He was a Deacon of the church, the bookkeeper and the lawn guy, but his ministry was Royal Rangers. He was a commander from 1963 until he retired in 2005. From camp outs, Jr. Olympic’s, Pow-Wow’s, FCF events, he loved it all but his greatest joy was teaching boys about Jesus.


Family will receive friends at North Central Assembly of God Church on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. His funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. Roger will be laid to rest next to his wife at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble immediately following his funeral.
