Robert F. Bob Hartzell, 75, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016, and conclude thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Bob was born June 26, 1940 in Jim Falls, Wisconsin, a former resident of Colorado, and a resident of Liberty since 1999. He was a graduate of Abbotsford High School, and a veteran of the US Army. Bob moved to Texas at the age of 23 and started his career in the lumber business working for Cameron Lumber, Weyhauser, Georgia Pacific, Blue Links, Slaughter Bros. and U.S. Plywood. He married Evelyn in 1968 and in 1970 her grandson, Marc Reed came to live with them. Bob enjoyed watching Marc grow into a fine young man. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and genealogy.
He had retired early but after Evelyns death he went to work at Potez Lumber. He enjoyed the people he worked with and made many new friends. He loved to tell a story, and had many to share.
Mr. Hartzell was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Evelyn Galbraith Hartzell, sister: Suzanne H. Tickell, and niece: Rebecca S. Becky Surovik. He is survived by his sister: Mary Faldoe and husband John of Montgomery, brothers: James R. Hartzell and wife Kaye of Mansfield and Richard E. Hartzell of Fallsburg, New York, grandson: Marc Reed and wife Crystal of Beaumont, two grandchildren, numerous other relatives, and friends.
