Robert "Bobby" C. Rice Sr.

Robert Carroll “Bobby” Rice, Sr., age 76, passed away July 15, 2015 from injuries sustained in an auto accident on May 1, 2015. Bobby was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on February 13, 1939 to Kerm and Tessie Rice. At the time of his death Bobby owned and operated R&R Enterprises. Bobby was a 1957 graduate of Tarkington High School where he was active in sports and the Tarkington FFA. Bobby was honored with the Lone Star Farmer Degree for Southeast Texas while attending Tarkington. He was a past director for the Cleveland Dairy Day Association and one of the original board members of the Community Youth Baseball Association. He had served with the Texas Dixie Youth Baseball organization as an Assistant District Director and as the District Director for District 7. Bobby was supportive and very active in Southeast Texas in recruiting leagues into the Texas Dixie Youth Baseball program. At the time of his retirement from the Dixie Youth Organization he was serving as the Assistant State Director. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Velda Purswell Rice; daughter, Teri Mosley and husband Brent of Huntsville, Texas; son, Robert C. Rice, Jr. of Tarkington; sister, Donna and husband John Burt; granddaughters, Kassie and Morgan Rice; grandsons, Luke and wife Lori and Jacob Mosley; great-grandsons, Douglas and Castiel Mosley; nephews, Jackie Ray Purswell and Jack Burt; numerous other relatives and friends.
