Robert Earl Hergemueller, 78, of Dayton, earned his Angel wings on December 30, 2013, in Zachary, Louisiana. Robert was born on October 2, 1935 in Orrick, Missouri to John Cristofer Hergemueller and Dorothy Louise McMullin. Robert was one of the original organizers of Kenefick District Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief from 1978 to 1980. He also volunteered with the Highway 321 Volunteer Fire Department until he retired and became an honorary member. He worked as a safety manager in construction until retirement. Robert was an avid reader, bowler, fireman, fisherman, hunter and passionate father, brother, and grandfather. Robert was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy Hergemueller; brother, Ralph Hergemueller of Colorado; infant sister Dorothy Pearl Hergemueller of Missouri; great granddaughter Morgan Hergemueller of Texas. Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his spouse Myrtle Hergemueller of Dayton; brother Bill Hergemueller and wife Barbara Anne of Missouri; daughter Belinda Roberts of Texas City; son Bob Hergemueller and wife Carolyn of Dayton; son Bill Hergemueller and wife Sherry of Dayton. Grandchildren: Gerri Wilkins and husband Shannon; Leya Guidry; Trishia Wilson and husband Roy Jr.; Bobby Hergemueller and wife Monica; Meridith Roberts; Billy Hergemueller and wife Marijo; Jennifer Wright and husband Gary; Jessica Sims and husband Kyle. Great Grandchildren: Dustin Radel, Clint Wilkins, Amanda Hewitt, Nathan Radel, Stephanie Watson, Melissa Watson, Aunna Hergemueller, Azare` Roberts, Mikayla Montanez, Haleigh Hergemueller, Taylor Wright, Cristofer Hergemueller, Zyruss Roberts, Gavin “Buckshot†Sims, Zariah Roberts, Ashlyn Hergemueller, Matthew Wright, and one great grandchild on the way from Jessica and Kyle Sims. Great Great Grandchildren: Aubree Hewitt, Skylar Wilkins. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Hergemueller, Billy Hergemueller, Gary Wright, Kyle Sims, Dustin Radel, Clint Wilkins, Nathan Radel, Cristofer Hergemueller, Zyruss Roberts, Gavin “Buckshot†Sims, and Matthew Wright. His family will receive friends at Pace Stancil Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00pm at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas and follow up visitation at Hwy 321 VFD.
