Rita Ferguson

On January 1, 2015, Rita Ferguson passed peacefully with her family by her side at Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit in Houston, Texas after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil Ferguson; parents, Burton Ralph and Lelya Groves; sister, Sondra Aden and brother, Revell Groves.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who always put others before herself. She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. She enjoyed being silly and making everyone laugh. She also loved taking care of her plants. Rita was known for her gift of gab even with total strangers. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and joking around, will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Browder Chuc and son, Michael Browder; sisters, Beverly Guinn and Sharla Enloe; grandchildren, Mikey Browder, Autumn Hillhouse, Brendon Browder, Kaitlyn and Mikayla Chuc; great-grandchildren, Ariel Browder, Noah and Natalie Hillhouse, Macie and Kason Browder and numerous loving relatives.
The family will receive friends 5-8:00 p.m., Friday January 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday January 10, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow at Splendora City Cemetery.
