Richard Wayne Ross, 70, of Dayton, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with private family interment following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral home in Dayton. Richard was born February 21, 1940 in Beaumont, to parents; J. D. Ross and Blanche Virginia Taylor, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of the Silsbee High School class of 1957, a retired millwright from Zachry, a member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church and the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621, and retired veteran of the US Air Force. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, watching NASCAR, wood working, and gardening. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his father: J. D. Ross, mother: Blanche Virginia Taylor Horn, stepfather: James Vernon Horn, sister: Janice Dale Marquardt, and brother: Doyle Ray Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 15 years: Mary Shaw Ross of Dayton, daughters: Carol Lynne Ross of Galveston and Brenda Burnett of Thicket, sons: Robert Henry Ross and wife Dori of WI and Richard Lynn Rucker of Baytown, brother: Horace J. Jackson of Hardin, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
