Richard Stash Ripkowski, better known as “Bubba Rip”, 63, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in Beaverton, Oregon. He was born October 3, 1946 in Liberty, Texas to parents: Bernie I. and Olivia Eaton Ripkowski. Bernie was the eldest of 12 brothers and 4 sisters born to Mattie and Stash Ripkowski. Rick attended Dayton schools, graduated in Victoria in 1965, and received his BA in business from Western Kentucky University in 1973. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, serving in Korea, returning as a Captain in the Artillery. He served until 1971 when he honorably accepted inactive status. He had worked for Mercer Transportation as general manager in Louisville, Kentucky and freight agent in Portland, Oregon until 2007. Rick was a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Beaverton, Oregon. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dayton with interment to follow at Crosby Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening, July 9, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. He is preceded in death by his parents: Bernie and Olivia Ripkowski and his   brother: Michael Ripkowski. He is survived by his wife: Christie Jones Ripkowski of Beaverton, Oregon; his sister: Susie Patton of Liberty, Texas; also numerous aunt, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
