Rhonda Faye Padgett McNew, 69, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, in Baytown, Texas. Born on September 15, 1955, to Henry Padgett and Margie Alderman, Rhonda’s life was a testament to love, strength, and selflessness. She graduated from C.E. King High School and spent the last 20 years of her life in Dayton, Texas, though she had also lived in Splendora.
A devoted homemaker, Rhonda was a beacon of positivity, always seeing the glass half full. Her warm heart and unshakeable strength made her the cornerstone of her family. Known for her love of pink roses, Rhonda was often described as a "one margarita person" and had a hearty laugh that was contagious, usually accompanied by a slap to the nearest leg. Her selflessness was unmatched, as she continually put others first and loved her family with an unwavering devotion.
Rhonda’s family was the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Padgett; her husband, Steven McNew; nephew, Jeffrey Stockstill; sister-in-law, Wanda Padgett; aunt, Rhelda Parker; cousin, Red Mitchell. She is survived by her beloved mother, Margie Padgett; son, Zachary Melton; daughters, Rachael McNew and husband Jesse Deaver, Caitlin Montgomery and husband Ty, and Elizabeth Neenan and husband Austin, beloved cat and best friend, Leo; brothers, Clayton Padgett and wife Mary, Clifton Padgett, Clint Padgett and wife Keitha, and Bryan Padgett and wife Shady; sisters, Kathy Pekar and husband Victor, Paula Stockstill and husband David; and her cherished grandchildren, Mikey, Eli, Maggie, Emery, Oliver, and Lily.
A visitation will be held at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Pallbearers for Rhonda will be Clayton Padgett, Clifton Padgett, Clint Padgett, Bryan Padgett, Austin Neenan, and Chase Padgett.
In honoring Rhonda’s memory, we celebrate a woman who loved fully, laughed often, and cherished those around her with all her heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
