Rhea Neal McBride Smith, a beloved member of the community, passed away on July 21, 2024 in her hometown of Dayton, where she had resided for the last 38 years. Born on September 20, 1957, in Baytown, Rhea led a fulfilling life filled with love and joy.
Throughout her career as an accounts payable clerk in the scrap metal industry, Rhea gained the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Her dedication and work ethic were truly admirable attributes that were evident in everything she pursued.
Rhea's warm and compassionate personality endeared her to many. found great joy in traveling with the Lee College senior citizens group, where she cultivated lasting friendships and cherished memories. In her leisure time, she found solace and contentment in crocheting beautiful pieces. However, her greatest source of happiness came from spending time with her dear grandkids, who brought immense light into her life.
The memory of Rhea will be honored during the visitation at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on July 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held the following day at the same location on July 24, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.
Rhea was preceded in death by her parents Vance McBride and Carolyn Strauch McBride, her husband Leslie Smith, and cousin Les Woolsey. She is survived by her children Murray Smith (wife Brandi) and Kristen Odom (husband Chad), as well as her grandchildren Kristopher Smith, Grant Odom, Landon Smith, Garrett McWhorter, Reed Odom, Rainee Wolfe, and Rae Wilder.
In addition to her immediate family, Rhea leaves behind her brother Burl McBride (wife Toni) and sisters Erma Cornelius (husband Jay) and Kris Dahlquist (husband Tony). Her faithful companion Kobe also mourns her loss alongside numerous nieces, nephews who will always carry fond memories of their aunt.
Rhea Neal McBride Smith touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
