Renate Hertha Wiessner

Renate H. Strassner Wiessner, 75, of New Caney, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands. Renate was born February 21, 1938 in Rabenstein, Germany, to parents; Herbert and Hertha Lippert Strassner, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in New Caney for the past 40 years. She was a retired transportation aide for handicapped children for the New Caney I.S.D., instrumental in the development of a New Horizon Facility, an activity center for mentally handicapped individuals; a volunteer for the Special Olympics, and a former member of The Houston Saengerbund. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and bird watching. Mrs. Wiessner was preceded in death by her father: Herbert Strassner, mother: Hertha Lippert Strassner, infant son: Frank Wiessner, and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband of 56 years: George Wiessner of New Caney, son: George Michael Wiessner of New Caney, daughters: Erika E. Reed and husband William L. of AR, Kathy Finnegan and husband Raymond, II of Spring, and brother: Bernd H. Strassner of Friendswood, sister: Brigitte Berry of Kemah, grandchildren: Trey Reed and wife Betty, Kimberley Dossett and husband Shane, Tiffany Reed and Joe Arrendondo, Lydia Finnegan, Sarah Finnegan, and Matthew Finnegan, great-grandchildren: Luke Reed, Seth Reed, Carson Reed, Xavier Dossett, Draydon Dossett, Kianna Dossett, Shaylee Dossett, Colton Teaff, and Ryatt Gage Arrendondo, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 14, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 South Panther Creek Drive, in The Woodlands, Texas 77381. Visitation hour with family from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and ceremony at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request charitable donations be made to New Caney New Horizons, Inc., P.O.
