Reita Katherine Colwell

Reita Katherine Norman Colwell, 66, of Liberty died March 6, 2014. She was born December 13, 1947 in Liberty, Texas to parents William Ole Norman and Reita Lucille LaFour Norman. A lifelong resident of Liberty she graduated from LHS in 1965 and continued her education at Lanier Business School. Reita was quite the cowgirl and was TVE rodeo queen in 1964. She was a bookkeeper for the Texas Highway Department and Locke Insurance before retiring. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, tending her flower garden, and feeding her birds. Services for Mrs. Colwell will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Mike Farabee, Mike Nugent, Cody Odell, Phillip Woolls, Leon Sonnier, and Shawn Havard. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Wilcox and Bill Cody Odell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harrell Colwell, Jr., her grandson, Jacob Michael Farabee, and her father-in-law Harrell Colwell, Sr. She is survived by son: Lloyd Alan Griffith of Liberty; daughters: Jo Lynette Farabee & husband Mike of Liberty, Scotty Lynette Nugent and husband Michael of Liberty; grandchildren: Megan Farabee, Mikaela Farabee, Kelsey Duff, and Cody Duff; great-grandchildren: Maci & Kelby Duff; sister: Sue Anne Gothard of Liberty; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
