R.E. Cook, 85, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Dayton. He was born November 11, 1931 in Tiptonville, Tennessee to his late parents, William Lafayette Cook and Rachel Emma Hammer Cook.
Mr. Cook was raised in the Reelfoot Lake area of Tennessee, had previously lived in Cypress and had resided in Dayton for the last 16 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with service in the Korean Conflict and a former member of the Houston Area Camping Squares. R.E. loved being with his kids and grandkids, traveling, gardening, and hunting with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Pauline Peacock, Kathleen Cook, Woodrow Cook, Griffin Cook, Malcolm Cook, L. D. Cook, Helen Levy, Joe Cook, Libby Boone, Baby Cook and Lambert Cook.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pawnee Cook of Dayton; daughters, Donna Ann Cook and her husband, Chris Eastland and Patricia LeeAnn Wiggins and her husband, Mark; son, William Robert Cook and his wife, Jodi; grandchildren, Savannah Rae Wiggins, Madison Taylor Wiggins, David Errol Cook and Gianna Grace Cook.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Downey officiating. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.
Pallbearers will be David Cook, Mark Wiggins, Chris Eastland, Glen Hillier, Brian Hillier, Paul Hillier, and Jon Franklyn Hillier. Honorary Pallbearers are Franklin Hiller, Kenny Gajdosik,
Dr. Loverd Peacock, and Dr. Curry Peacock.
