Rayburn Leroy Sangster, 89, of Cleveland, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Kingwood Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Coldspring with burial following at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring. Rayburn was born November 25, 1925 in Telephone, to parents; Hugh W. and Dolly M. Gaines Sangster, a former resident of Ft. Worth, and has resided in Cleveland for the past 38 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II with the Seabees, a retired carpenter, member of the American Legion Post #629, and a former background musician for Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson. He also enjoyed gardening, playing music, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Sangster was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Cheryl Ann Sangster, grandchild: Branden Ray Sangster, brothers: Weston, Lavoy, and Wayne Sangster, and sister: Valerie Stailey. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Helen Cullum Sangster of Cleveland, son: Gary Ray Sangster of Beaumont, daughters: Alana Faye Taylor and husband Jimmy of Oklahoma, Elisha May Huff and husband Kenneth of Pasadena, Linda Joyce McIntosh and husband Donald of Conroe, and Jerri LaNelle Parsutt of Evergreen, brother: Glen Ray Sangster of Bonham, sister: Wanda Alene Smith of Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
