Randy Clair Brown

Randy Brown, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 59. Born on May 26, 1965, in Dayton, Texas, Randy lived his entire life in his beloved hometown, where he made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Randy was raised in the First Methodist Church and was a proud member of the Dayton High School class of 1983—where he developed a deep passion for basketball that would stay with him throughout his life. Following in the footsteps of his father, he pursued a career as a rice farmer, a vocation he embraced with dedication and pride.

He earned double major bachelor’s degrees of kinesiology and education from Stephen F. Austin University, where his enthusiasm for sports and coaching continued to grow. Randy's enthusiasm and ability to connect with animals and children, especially babies, were well known among his friends and family. The joy Randy took in coaching his daughter, Phoebe in multiple sports was an integral part of his life. He was also an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds on the course with his golfing buddy, Bernie Wayne.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Nancy Carnahan Brown, and his grandparents. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Kameka Brown, and their daughter, Phoebe Brown. He is also survived by his siblings: Bambi Brown, Donanne Dass and her husband Craig, as well as Aaron Brown and his wife Sherri. His extended family includes nieces and nephews: Aaron, Alyssa, Macey and her son Mason, Landon and his wife Holly, Madison, Brittany, Tyler, Ethan, Lane, Blake, Daniel, and Gabriela. Randy’s in-laws, Larry and Kathy Langston, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kevin and Lisa Langston, Ken and Marci Langston, and Kelly and Tom Heilman, will also miss him dearly. His beloved furry companions, Ringo, Lola, and Dolly, were always by his side and brought him much joy.
