Patricia Davis

January 14, 1921 — November 16, 2014

PATRICIA MAE NYBERG DAVIS, passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father November 16th 2014, at her home, at 3:12 PM. She was 93 years, 10 months young. The cause of her death was complications during her recovery from pneumonia. "Pat," and \\"Aunt Patsy,\\" as she was known by her friends and loved ones, was born January 14, 1921 in Houston Texas to the late John Albert Nyberg and Nana Leona Noonan. She lived her early years on Courtland St in the Heights of Houston.

An exemplary scholar, Pat went on to attend Rice Institute after graduating from Reagan High School in 1939. Stricken with osteomyelitis of her hip, she missed her senior year at Rice, yet still graduated with high honors. In 1959 she married long time friend and childhood, next-door neighbor the late Col (Ret) Francis "Frank,"Uncle Buddy\\" Eugene Davis. They lived for a time in Baytown, and then Ft Gibson, MS, but they settled in the place they loved, Shepherd, TX. There they lived on their farm and traded in real estate for many years. Pat and Frank were long-time members of the Shepherd United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, The Rt. Rev. Earl Nicholas McArthur, Suffragan Bishop (Ret) (w: Shirley, dec) of Wimberly TX, nieces The Rev. Claudia Elizabeth Drane Polsgrove (h: The Rev. John) of Bardwell KY, Janet Rose Drane of San Antonio, TX, Nancy Elizabeth McArthur of Wimberly, TX, Mary Patricia McArthur McGhee of Wimberly, TX, brother-in-law, Yeager Lee Markins Jr of Mabank, TX, and nephews John Russell Drane (w: Kay) of Victoria, TX, Col, USAF (Ret) (Dr) Joe Bates Drane III (w: Donette) of San Antonio, TX, John Douglas McArthur of Austin, TX, and Richard Earl McArthur of Houston, TX, Yeager Lee Markins and wife Mary Jane (MJ) of Salen, NH, and Frank Markins and wife Lee of Liberty, TX, niece, Ellen Lucille Markins of Seagoville, TX, Cynthia Rochelle Kind and husband Ted of Gunbarrel City, TX.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two infant sisters Janice and Ruth, sisters Rose Pauline Allen Drane (h: Joe, dec), and Shirley Beth Nyberg McArthur (h: Earl "Mac\\"). Arrangements are by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, TX. (281) 592-2641. Visitation is at the Shepherd United Methodist Church, Shepherd, TX, on Friday, November 21st, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Services will follow at 1 PM by The Rev Jimmy Smith, with a gathering of friends and loved ones after the service at the church. Interment will be on Saturday, November 22nd, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, TX, where Pat will be laid to rest next to her husband.

A special thank you to long-time friend Dallas Steele and her daughter Dawn Maxwell for their devotion and loving care for so many years, and especially for their bedside care in Pats last days. Pat was a strong, exceptionally intelligent, gifted, and generous friend to her church and to all her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please consider the \\"Memorial Fund In Honor of Pat N. Davis\\"" at the Shepherd United Methodist Church. She brought quiet kindness to all she knew.
