Othel Eugene George, 69, of Dayton, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Othel was born September 12, 1944 in Newport, Arkansas, to parents; J. P. George and Edna Nichols, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, a retired mechanic, and member of the Family Worship Church and VFW Post #5621. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Mr. George was preceded in death by his father: J. P. George, mother: Edna Nichols Currel, daughter: Susan Hanlon, brothers: Woody, David, and Gordon, and sister: Ann. He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Bertie Fowler George of Dayton, daughters: Eugenia Joe George of Arkansas and Sharon Sweat of Humble, sons: Eugene George of Arkansas and Terry Carrington and wife Nancy of Dayton, brothers: Charlie Russell and James Paul George and wife Judy, sisters: Cindy and Becky, grandchildren: Thomas, Johnathan, and Keith Hanlon, James warner, George Pacovsky, Charles Mayon, Chelsea Hanlon, and Francis Cannon, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
