Oliver Smith

Oliver Ray Smith, age 78 of New Caney, Texas, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016. He was born September 17, 1937 in Houston, Texas to parents Issac Irvin Smith and Nancy Maydell Shirley who preceded him in death along with his four sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Pauline R. Smith; daughter, Tracy Lynne Smith Barnes and husband Maurice; sons, Ricky Wayne Smith and wife Jane, Timothy Dale Smith and wife Stacey, Richard Louis Loosemore and wife Dawn; sister-in-laws, Betty Smith and Jeannie Smith; grandchildren, Todd Smith, Richard A. Loosemore, Brittany Gauntt, Amber Smith, Anna Chmiel, Sarah Loosemore, Heather Smith, Zach Barnes and Dustin Barnes; great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Gauntt, Adalyn Gauntt, Claire Elisa Gauntt, Smith Andrew Chmiel, Chloe Loosemore, Isbella Loosemore, Dakota Loosemore, Jeffery Loosemore, Zoe Ellis, Zane Ellis and Dusty Ellis; one great great-grandchild on the way, many nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.

Oliver Ray Smith has been a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He graduated from Cleveland High in 1956 and then entered into the Navy in August 1956 for 10 years. He worked in Electronics Electrical and then retired in April 2003 from the Texas Department of Transportation. After retiring Oliver and Pauline spent time traveling, camping or just relaxing on their front porch. He enjoyed going to family reunions and cooking. Oliver belonged to Calvary Baptist Church for many years then to Porter Baptist. His last pet was a border collie named Angie.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Services will follow starting at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
