Nelda Marie Campbell Merrick, 71, of Willis, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in The Woodlands. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in Cleveland. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. Nelda was born January 3, 1943 in Evergreen, to parents; Charles L. and Ella M. Hoot Campbell, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Willis for the past five years. She was a graduate of the Cleveland High School class of 1961, attended Sam Houston State University, and was a retired project manager from the Shell and Honeywell Corporations. She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee, dominoes, bingo, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Ms. Merrick was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Floda D. Webb. She is survived by her son: Steven Merrick and wife Denise of Willis, brother: William S. “Bill†Campbell and wife Debbie of Humble, sister: Gloria G. Lilley of Cleveland, grandchildren: Kyle Steven Merrick, Caitlyn Elisabeth Merrick, and Jace Byron Howard, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
