Mr. Nathaniel Lee Kelley, 77, of Dayton, Texas died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Liberty after an extended illness. Nathaniel was born September 8, 1933 in Dayton, Texas to parents, Willie Lee Kelley and Sedonia Girard Kelley of Dayton, Texas. Mr. Kelley graduated from Colbert High School in Dayton, a member of the Class of 1953 where he played football and other sports. Before retiring he worked for Brown and Root, National Pipe and Tube, and his last job was for Wal-Mart where he worked for over 15 years. He was a member of the Ark of Life Ministry in Dayton. Kelley enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, traveling with his family and work. He loved life and making people laugh.
Services for Mr. Kelley will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with interment to follow at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his mother and father; his grandparents, Odelia Eugene Girard that raised him after the death of his mother at two years old, his daughter, Barbara Curtis, and his sister, Berdinie Branch. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years: Betty Kelley of Dayton, his daughter: Sedonia Jackson of Katy; four grandchildren: Phyllis Curtis of Dayton, Jennifer Curtis of Dayton, Preston Jackson of Houston, and Fran Charles Jackson of Houston; six great-grandchildren: Christopher Young, Joseph Wickliff, Jolan Curtis, Sha Kara Scott, Sha Leah Scott, Jonyia Alexander; son-in-law: Bennie Curtis of Dayton; sister Bertha Hartwell of Port Arthur; also numerous nieces, and nephews, a host of beloved cousins and friends
