Nancy Anne Thomas

Nancy Anne Thomas (MeMe) passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, at the age of 71, after an 11-month battle with Leukemia. She fought hard until her last moments, with her family lovingly by her side.  

Nancy was born on July 17, 1952, in Centre, Alabama, to Harvey and Leora Bazmore. She was the last of her siblings born in Alabama as her family moved to Houston, Texas when she was a young girl.

Nancy married Kenneth Thomas on February 18, 1984. They moved to Dayton, Texas in 1987, where they settled down to raise their family.

Nancy served the Lord with a caring heart, full of love and grace. She never enjoyed the spotlight but was always there to help and do for others. She loved being surrounded by her family and would often have everyone over. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. Nancy was always actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives. She rarely missed a game, competition, or any event that they were involved in.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Leora Bazmore; sister, Wonette Ford; son, Dustin Thomas; granddaughter, Danielle Alley. Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Kenneth Thomas; children, Kevin Alley, Joshua Alley and wife Erica, Summer Kelly, Toby Thomas; grandchildren, Dustin Alley and wife Shaye, Brett Alley and girlfriend Lanie Graves, Brooke Alley, Hunter Alley and wife Hailey, Addison Alley, Lauren Kelly, Chase Kelly; great-grandchildren, Danielle Alley, Paisley Alley, Cooper Alley, Beaux Alley, Macklyn Alley; brother, J.C. Bazmore; sisters, Lillie Lewis and husband Mike, Linda Kylberg, Carol Jozwiak and husband Eugene, Leslie Orme and husband Delman, Angie Turner and husband Victor; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Grace Community Baptist Church in Dayton.
