Nancy Lou Carnahan Brown, 74, of Dayton, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Dayton with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Nancy was born January 25, 1939 in Springville, IA, to parents; Clair C. and Fay J. Pherrin Carnahan, and a lifelong resident of the Dayton area. She was a graduate of the Springville High School class of 1956, attended the University of Iowa, was a former administrative secretary, member and Sunday school teacher at the First United Methodist Church, and will be remembered as the best mother and nana in the world. She also enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and genealogy. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father: Clair Clifford Carnahan, mother: Fay Josephine Pherrin Carnahan, and sister-in-law: Kathy Carnahan. She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Don A. Brown of Dayton, daughters: Bambi L. Brown of Houston and Donanne F. Dass and husband Craig of Humble, sons: Randy C. Brown and wife Kameka of Huffman and Aaron D. Brown and wife Sherri of Crosby, brothers: Joe Carnahan of IA and Steve Carnahan and wife Marla of IA, grandchildren: Phoebe, Macey, Landon, Madison, Aaron, and Alyssa, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
