Morris Moran Rhodes, 89, of Votaw, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the Votaw Worship Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Votaw Worship Center in Votaw with burial following at the Holly Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.
Morris was born January 20, 1927 in Votaw, to parents; Jessie and Ada Gilley Rhodes, and has been a lifelong resident of Votaw. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during WW II and a retired car inspector for Union Pacific Railroad.
Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Laura Bailey Rhodes, grandson: Robert Morris Rhodes, brothers: Virgil, Norris, Dorman, Melvin, Carl Marvin, and Herman Rhodes, sisters: Nellie Dettling, Maxine Hinklin, Helen Jackson, and Dovie Burnett. He is survived by his daughter: Virie Henry, sons: Dwight Rhodes and wife Ann, Anthony Rhodes and wife Donna, and Morris Clifton Rhodes and wife Vickie, brother: Tom Rhodes, grandchildren: Steven Majeski, Laura Lee, Richey Rhodes, Jason Rhodes, Kim Mueck, Megan Dodd, Tracie Heiselbetz, Goldie Higginbotham, Sharlyn Potter, and Melvin Jones, great-grandchildren: Robert Majeski, Jaylynn Mackenzie, Kaden Mueck, Aleigha Rhodes, Lacy Rhymes, Brittany McCabe, Taylor Moore, Seth Potter, Hannah Potter, and Ian Higginbotham and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
