NEW IBERIA – Funeral services celebrating the life of Mildred Homeyer Hardcastle will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Jeffus of Trinity Baptist Church, and Pastor Brian Marbury of Double Oaks Community Church, will co-officate. Visiting hours will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until time of services.
Services will continue on Monday, March 27 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 14250 TX-150, Coldspring, TX with visiting from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, and graveside services held at 3:30 pm at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pastor Don Shannon of First Baptist Church in Coldspring will officiate.
Mildred Homeyer Hardcastle was born February 16, 1930 in Karnes City, Texas to the late Rex Homeyer and Bessie Little Homeyer. She passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Belle Teche Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Mildred was a homemaker devoted to the love and care of her family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Coldspring. Some of her favorite pastimes included listening to her favorite music and participating in the bingo and other games held at Garden View Assisted Living. Her most cherished moments were the times spent with her family, especially during holidays. Mildred loved cooking and sharing a meal, expecially her famous cornbread dressing that everyone loved so much. She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace.
Survivors include her children, Johnny Hardcastle and wife Donna of New Iberia, LA and Peggy Faulk and husband Michael of Central, LA; her grandchildren, Brian Hardcastle and Eric Hardcastle and wife Roberta all of New Iberia, LA, Jarrad Faulk and wife Jo Tiffany of Monroe, LA, and Mandi Marbury and husband Brian of Chelsea, AL; nine great grandchildren with one expected on Monday, March 27; and her sisters and brother, Patricia Davidson and husband Freddie, Rex Homeyer, Jr. and Ray Homeyer all of Texas.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. “Bill” Hardcastle; and her sister and brother, Francis Coslette and Roy Homeyer.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's name, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Residents and Staff of Garden View Assisted Living Center for their friendship, love and care of our dear mother. They would also like to thank Mrs. Brenda Campbell, who was not only mom’s caregiver, but her dear friend. We thank you all.
