Mildred Damek Ripkowski, 81, of Dayton, died Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Alexander Campus in Baytown. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial following at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, with rosary services at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Mildred was born August 1, 1929 in Dayton, to parents; Paul and Agnes McCloskey Damek, and has resided in Dayton throughout her life. She was a football sweetheart, graduate, and salutatorian of the Dayton High School class of 1946, attended Lee College, member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and altar society, committee member for the Pioneer Class, and a retired tax collector for the Dayton I.S.D. Tax Office after 27 years of employment. She also enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles, and watching hummingbirds. Mrs. Ripkowski was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Franklin Ripkowski, Sr. of Dayton, son: Franklin Ripkowski, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Dayton, daughter: Karen Reiter and husband John, Jr. of Baytown, grandchildren: Leslie Mulkey and husband Joel, Jay Reiter, and Ashley and Crystal Ripkowski, great-grandchild: John Thomas Mulkey, sisters: Ruby Vyoral of Liberty and Klee Ripkowski of Baytown, brother: Paul Damek and wife June of Liberty, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
