Michael Stephen Piatt, 26, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday morning, December 12, 2010 in Houston. Michael was born July 11, 1984 in Baytown, Texas to parents, Randy and Judy Piatt. He and his wife Brooke have been married for 4 Ã‚Ë years and have been blessed with their 3 Ã‚Ë month old son Titus. He attended Dayton schools graduating from Dayton High in 2002 continuing his education at Stephen F. Austin where he received a BA in speech communication and a minor in history. Michael then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary preparing to become a worship pastor. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Dayton where he actively participated in the praise band and many other phases of worship. Michael enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, skiing, and sports. He had a great love for family, friends, and music, but most importantly, he had a deep passion for his savior Jesus Christ.
Services for Michael will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Dayton with Rev. Chris Trousdale officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at First Baptist Church, 202 East Houston, Dayton, when the family will receive friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carson V. “Paw-Paw” Howell and Joseph “Grandpa” Spellman; and his father-in-law, John “Papa John” Spellman. He is survived by his loving wife, Brooke A. Piatt of Dayton; his son, Titus Michael Piatt of Dayton; his parents, Randy and Judy Piatt of Baytown, his sister, Heather Abshire and husband Mike and their children Paige, Carson and Jonah of Dayton; his mother-in-law, Janet “Mama J” Spellman of Dayton; brother-in-law, Ched E. Spellman and wife Leigh and their children, Hope, and Kate on the way, of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Aaron Walters and husband Justin and their son Levi of Dayton; grandparents, Thelma “Maw-Maw” Howell of Baytown, Harold “Grandpa” and Verba “Grandma” Piatt of Oklahoma, Merle “PaPa” and Linda “MaMa” Aaron of Humble, Willene “Grandma” Spellman of Bullard, also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
