Obituary for Michael Bruce Griffin
Michael Bruce Griffin, 72, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2024. Born on June 13, 1952, in Dayton, Texas, to Clarence F. Griffin and Leveata J. Enloe, Michael was a lifelong resident of Dayton. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1971, where he made lasting friendships and laid the foundation for a life full of hard work, adventure, and cherished moments.
Michael worked as a millwright for Lyondell, a position that he dedicated himself to for many years. Outside of work, he had a deep love for music, often strumming his guitar to create melodies that reflected his free-spirited nature. He was known by his motorcycle friends as "Link," a nod to his passion for riding his Harley Davidson. Michael enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping by the river, canoeing, boating on Lake Travis, or hunting. He also found immense joy in building his own homes, the most recent being his beloved "LCR" home, which he affectionately named Last Chance Ranch.
Family was always at the heart of Michael’s life. His greatest joys were spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. He is survived by his loving mother, Leveata Griffin; sons, Michael Shane Griffin and girlfriend Vickie, Alan Griffin; daughters, Cari Gibson and husband Jeremy, Amy Griffin; grandchildren, Brantley Heckel, Cyrus Griffin, Corvin Griffin, Jayme Griffin, Kylee Griffin, and Ali Gibson; brother, Patrick Griffin and wife Tammi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clarence F. Griffin. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and his love for his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Pallbearers will be Michael Shane Griffin, Alan Griffin, Phillip Griffin, James Thibodeaux, Jason Brock, and Joel LaGrone.
May Michael’s memory continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
