Melvina “Mel” Louise Harris Landolt, 88, of Huffman, passed away July 4, 2017, at the Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the First Baptist Church of Huffman. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Huffman. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Melvina was born May 5, 1929 in Huffman, to parents Victor, Sr. and Mattie D. Tabor Harris. On July 19, 1952, she married Willie "Bill" Landolt & they made their home in Houston while raising their family. The couple moved to Brenham to enjoy their retirement years, until Bill's death in early 2002. Shortly thereafter, Mel decided to move back to her hometown, where she lived independently until mid-2016. For the past year or so she resided at the home of her son & daughter-in-love Melanie, who has been the most loving & tireless caregiver anyone could ever hope for. Mel was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Huffman, and a devout Christian lady. She was an amazing momma who loved Jesus and her family. She graduated from Huffman High School, attended business college, and was a retired bookkeeper.
Mrs. Landolt was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Willie B. Landolt, Jr., and brother: Kenneth Harris. Melvina is survived by her children: Becky & husband Jay McKee, Kathi & husband Alex Cabal and David & wife Melanie Landolt. Grandchildren: Ben Davis, Cheryl Landolt Carroll & husband Bryan & Crystal Landolt. Great Grandchildren: Shelby Carroll & Riley Carroll. She is also survived by brother Victor Harris, Jr. & by sisters: Cordelia Ewell, Joyce Badgett & Violet Edwards; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, & friends.
