Melisha Marie Gore Thurman, 78, of Dayton, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Liberty, Texas.
Graveside service for Mrs. Thurman will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Linney Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
Melisha was born January 30, 1939 in Silsbee, Texas to parents, Ike Jack Gore and Rossezell Rockman Gore. She had lived in the Dayton area most of her life and was totally devoted to her family. She worked at Lewie’s in Liberty, Hale’s Grocery; Louis’s Café and Froppe’s in Dayton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl D. Thurman, Sr.; daughter, Joyce Fingleman, and brothers, James Gore and Thomas Gore. She is survived by her children, Darlene Butcher and husband Ernest of Dayton, James Ray Fingleman and wife Kim of Dayton, Pete Thurman and wife Shana Lee of Dayton, Joe Thurman and companion Melanie Thornton of Dayton, and Teresa Nelson of Dayton; sisters, Ada Byrum and husband Kenneth of Evadale and Rose Marie Lofton of Silsbee; also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
